Candidates must have held a position within the last twelve months as a VP or Director of Marketing at an enterprise software or SaaS company with responsibility for marketing communications, field marketing, lead generation, channel marketing, etc. Experience working in a dynamic (i.e. "startup") environment is preferred as well as a successful track record building a product from early adoption through market share leadership. IPO experience is a huge plus. The company needs a new marketing leader who can build a world class brand and positioning. POSITION: VP/Dir of Marketing. (Title depends upon experience.) This is senior management position. However, you will only have a handful of people reporting to you initially.
COMPANY: SaaS company. The company is the leader in an emerging market space and is on target to do an IPO in the next couple of years. Company has grown rapidly each year for the last few years. Company does not need to raise additional venture money. You will benefit from the fact that the Company's team is stable and mature, with capable management in product development, customer support, sales, and finance. You will also "have plenty to work with,& rdquo; thanks to an excellent product that generates quantifiable results for major customers who are pleased to provide references.
LOCATION: This position will be headquartered in Boston. Client is willing to relocate the right candidate. But, working remotely is not an option.
COMPENSATION: Client is willing and able to put together the right package for the right candidate. The focus is on hiring the BEST candidate. Compensation includes base, bonus, stock options, 401k and full benefits package.
MANAGEMENT STYLE/CORPORATE CULTURE: As a key member of the management team, you will actively participate in the important decisions facing the Company. My client is very big on delegation. He believes in hiring the best people, then providing them with clear incentives and responsibilities. Focus is on results. Need someone who thrives under tough timeline pressure and the need to show pragmatic, measurable results. He wants someone who knows how to work effectively as part of a management team by building respect and trust.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
- Must have held a position within the last twelve months as a VP or Director of Marketing at an enterprise software company or SaaS company with responsibility for marketing communications, field marketing, lead generation, channel marketing, etc.
- Must be able to outline at least one example of how you successfully built "buzz" around a brand that was virtually unknown when you started working on it. However, company needs someone who can build a world class brand and positioning. Someone that will be very strategic in building up the marketing image and presence of the brand in its several marketplaces.
- Must be abl e to personally deliver outstanding presentations at key meetings and business conferences. Must have experience developing brand collateral materials, speeches, PowerPoint presentations and all other support materials, online and offline, geared toward the needs of specific opportunities and audiences. Must be eager and able to build crisp, compelling presentations for a variety of audiences, including clients.
- Prefer candidates that earned undergraduate and MBA degrees from respected universities. Strong communications background and business acumen are required. However, experience and talent are more important. Looking for candidates that are highly analytical and results focused.
- Prefer candidates with some experience marketing enterprise software and/or solutions to OEMs, ISVs, and/or ISPs.
- From refining the Company's positioning to "wordsmithing" each piece of collateral, you must be "hands on" and comfortable in a "do it yourself" small company environment. And yet, you must also be a leader and manager, able to recruit first-rate talent---both as employees and outside contractors---and tightly coordinate their efforts to create exciting communications that lead to sales growth. Must be able to manage/evaluate public relations agencies and supervise their work in conceiving creative story angles.
